The “Faces Of Friends” International Music Festival exists since 1996. It was initially conceived as a symposium and concert of music artists from Cahul, Moldova, but it eventually grew to be a major cultural event in Moldova. The Festival featured performances by renowned artists from many concerts, including Zdob si Zdub, O-Zone, Trigon, Cuibul, Graieste Moldoveneste, Dublu Sens, In Quadro, Nelly Ciobanu, Ion Suruceanu, Dan Balan, Constantin Moscovici (Moldova), Tatiana Boeva, Productions (Ukraine), Albert Asadulin, Sergey Izbash, Olga Zabuga, Module (Russia), Torstein Sodal (Norway), Ian Raiburg (USA), Ruslan Tsar (France) etc.
The first festivals took place every two years. It is being organized yearly since 2004. It began featuring a contest for young performers of pop music. During the last years, young performers from eight countries participated in the contest. The performances are evaluated by an international jury consisting of renowned artists, producers and musicians.
We are happy to announce that Festival will be 11 years old in 2007. This edition of the “Faces Of Friends” International Music Festival will take place in the city of Cahul, Republic of Moldova.
Participants’ arriving date: June 29
Participants’ departure date: July 3
Participant selection criteria:
15 to 25 years of age
Repertoire: two contest songs, one of which must be performed in the official language of the country represented by the participant; the other song can be in any language.
Participant selection process:
The applicant will send a recording of one of the contest songs, encoded in the MP3 format, via e-mail to the address cahulfest@gmail.com and fill an application that can be downloaded on the webpage www.cahulfest.net. The deadline for receipt of applications is May 1. The songs will be performed live based on the recorded musical arrangement. The recording must be in Audio CD or MD (Minidisk) format. The recording can contain extra vocals, but these vocals cannot double the main melody line.
Awards and prizes:
Grand Prix - 1000 EURO
I award - 700 EURO
II award - 500 EURO
III award - 300 EURO
All participants will receive diplomas and memorabilia from festival organizers and sponsors.
Transportation:
The organizers provide the participants with transportation on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. All travel cost TO Moldova will be covered by participants.
Participation Fee:
All contestants pay a contest participation fee of 50 Euro. The participants also provide a partial coverage of room and board in the amount of 25 Euro a day. These fees are paid upon arrival to the festival.

Dear friends! On this page you’ll find information about the international music festival “The Faces of Friends”. It takes places in the small town Cahul, which is located in southern Moldova. This festival will bring together the best bands from Moldova, as well as artists from Romania, Russia and Ukraine, who work in different musical genres.
